GDS Group announces its Charitable Contributions for Christmas 2020
2020 has been a strenuous year for many, and GDS is looking to lighten the load for those that need it most via its charitable contributions
- GDS Group is looking to fund 200 hampers for some of Bristol’s low income/vulnerable families this Christmas. Each hamper contains the key ingredients needed to make a Christmas dinner.
- In order to achieve this, we will be working in partnership with Bristol City Council’s ‘Families in Focus’ team to identify and deliver to those that need a little extra help at this time of year
- We are also working closely with the community Farm in Chew Magna to source as much of the contents of the hampers from local, organic, and ethical suppliers.
25th November 2020, Bristol, UK: GDS Group, the global events, research, and technology services company, has today announced that it is looking to fund 200 festive food hampers during the Christmas period. These will be delivered to those that need a little extra help between the 21st-23rd December with the help of The Community Farm.
Each hamper will cost £150 and contains all the key ingredients needed to make a Christmas dinner including a turkey crown, pigs in blankets, fresh vegetables as well as cheese, crisps, sweet treats, biscuits, Christmas crackers and much more!
Working in partnership with Bristol City Councils Families in Focus team, GDS will be helping to identify and deliver to some of Bristol’s low-income and vulnerable families in order to lend a helping hand in these difficult times.
The vision statement of the Families in Focus team states that ‘children and families will receive the right support at the right time by the right service and in the right place’, the Christmas hampers that GDS are helping to fund serves as its way of showing support for this noble goal.
Caroline Donald, Manager for the Families in Focus Partnership for Bristol City Council, had this to say, “this has turned out to be the perfect partnership between private business, Bristol City Council and the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) sector. Each organisation has brought their own skills and abilities to the project, together with sheer enthusiasm, resulting in an amazing offer of holiday hampers to some of the most vulnerable families in Bristol”.
Spencer Green, CEO of GDS Group added, “many of us at GDS are very fortunate and even under the cloud of COVID-19 can look forward to a lovely festive period. Christmas is a special time for fun and family, but it is also an important time for giving. It’s our absolute pleasure to be able to support some families who are less fortunate at this time. We hope that our specially selected hampers can bring some festive cheer to hundreds of families this Christmas“.
As part of its charitable work over the Christmas period, GDS would also like to announce that it is working in partnership with The Community Farm in Chew Magna to source the contents of the hampers from local, organic and ethical suppliers, so that not only are GDS helping to feed some of the local families that need it most but are also feeding its local economy and small businesses.
The Community Farm is a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) scheme growing organic fruit and vegetables on five acres of land in the Chew Valley. The farm also provides a vegetable box scheme that delivers fresh, local produce across Bristol, Bath, Frome, and the Chew Valley.
Kim Brooks, Managing Director for The Community Farm had this to say, “This project is a joy to work on – it’s such a generous gift from GDS. Plus, thanks to the forward thinking of Feeding Bristol for putting us in contact, and the careful work by Caroline and the Families in Focus team, we will be able to deliver 200 hampers directly to families who really deserve a treat this Christmas. Working with our local suppliers means we are bringing together not 1, but 3 boxes of really great food for each family, food that all families should be able to enjoy during the festive days!”
