Fiver has been selected as the recipient of GDS New York’s Charitable Support for 2021
GDS continues its charitable endeavors in 2021 by providing support for the Fiver Children’s Foundation.
GDS Group’s New York Office is proud to announce that the Fiver Children’s Foundation will serve as its charity partner for the year, receiving an investment of $20,000 and support as the year progresses. Through this partnership, GDS Group aims to raise awareness of Fiver’s mission, raise funds to support their work, and volunteer to enhance program offerings to the youth they serve, including supporting resume building workshops, interview preparation, and serving as project mentors, all via Zoom.
Fiver Children’s Foundation is not your typical after school program or summer camp. They take a slow and steady approach, over ten years, to build relationships and develop social, emotional and life skills that lead to positive decision-making and outcomes for young people in New York.
Throughout 2020, Fiver’s mission to support young people in New York was put under strain, but thanks to their resilience they were able to provide support through virtual programs, one-on-one support, and a centralized, bilingual resources webpage for families. The hallmark of the program, a 2-week residential summer camp, was converted to a virtual camp experience and they also provided socially distant family retreats on campgrounds. Additionally, Fiver’s COVID19 response has included a full transition to virtual programming as well as virtual volunteer opportunities.
